As a company BME aims to follow an environmentally aware approach to business. Staff are encouraged to car share and use public transport
wherever possible. Turning off a computer at night can save 235kg of CO2 in a year so good housekeeping measures are undertaken,
including turning off all lighting and equipment when not in use. Waste from the business is recycled, cutting down on CO2 emissions.
BME also aims to support customers who wish to have minimal impact on the environment through their work. Progressive
technology reduces both CO2 emissions and paper consumption through the use of electronic document management. Our electronic
document management systems will allow carbon emissions to be reduced on a wider basis throughout the supply chain. This is
especially important for Government agencies as the UK Government has set a target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2012,
with a target to reduce greenhouse gases by at least 26% by 2020.
If you are unable to move to a completely electronic document management system we can still help you to improve your carbon emissions.
After conversion and agreed archiving length documents are securely shredded and recycled where possible. We can agree video
conferencing for consultancy if available and provide low consumption hard drives and servers for document storage. We can also consult
on low emission ICT products that will minimise environmental damage. Redundant IT equipment can also be collected for
recycling, along with a collection of toner and print cartridges. Refurbished computers can be provided, or we can even update your existing
hardware in order to reduce your environmental impact.
